The baby stroller is not for groceries!

I can see myself having to consciously remind myself that no matter how convenient it may seem to pile up the groceries on Linus in the stroller, it is probably not a good, nor humane idea.

The Internet provides important life lessons to those who choose to learn. Much like America's Funniest Home Videos, American Idol, or any reality show. Observe the inappropriate action, then avoid or perform the opposite.

Oh, Rochester

This recent picture of Linus.

Has me in mind of famous comedian, Jack Benny.

One of whose famous lines was "Oh, Rochester, oh, Rochester " when he would call to his comedy partner, his valet Rochester, played by Eddie Anderson.

That Linus is already a comedy genius.

Driving while Breastfeeding!

Driving while breastfeeding - DWBF - is a really bad idea. While I understand that breastfeeding takes time and sometimes folks want to multitask more than watching TV or reading during that time, you can go to far. This woman from Ohio was driving her other children to school and breastfeeding one at the same time!

The mother was charged with child endangerment and violating the child restraint law. You must keep those kids in a car seat, and breasts do not count as air bags. I have to imagine she was a little distracted as well. This is a little more than a cell phone conversation. From the article:
Compton was issued citations for child endangering and violating the child restraint law. Compton told News Center 7 Friday, "If my child's hungry, I'm going to feed it."
I don't want to be driving next to this lady. There is a video where she explains her rationale at the link above. "The child was hungry," she says.

My baby doesn't blink!

Turns out that babies blink at a slower rate than adults do. I noticed Linus doesn't really blink, though he does close his eyes every minute or so, when they are open at all. A short note in the New York Times references a study that found that babies blink on average of less than two times a minute while adults blink 10-15 times per minute. For babies, that is 30 seconds between blinks, no wonder it looks like he never blinks.

Everybody has their own parenting style

Leave it to the Savage Chickens to annotate the various available parenting styles. Which do you espouse?

Should I be getting this type of advice from another source perhaps?
